Ghazala Javed born in Tahir Abad Muhallah of Mingora, district Swat.
She began her career with dancing at the age of sixteen.
In 2008, her family shifted to Peshawar due to hardcore Taliban rule and
subsequent military operations against them by the Pakistani Army.
They settled in Peshawar and there Ghazala started singing in the Pashto
She received listeners from "Baran dy baran dy". In the later years she sang
more melodious songs and became known amongst the people of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa and even amongst Pakhtun living abroad.
She was nominated for a Filmfare Award in 2010 and received a Khyber Award
Ghazala Javed was married to Jehangir Khan, a property dealer of Peshawar on
7 February 2010,
but of late was living with her father due to differences with her husband.
She came to know that her husband had a wife before her and that divulgation
eventually led to her separation from her husband.
On 18 November 2010 she parted from her husband and moved to her parents
Ghazala Javed filed a petition in the civil court of Asghar in Swat for
divorce from Jehangir on 12 October 2011.
The court decided in her favour on 4 December 2011.
Jehangir repeatedly asked and even threatened her to live with him again but
she refused and that eventually led to her tragic death along with her
Ghazala was shot dead along with her father in a drive-by shooting by gunmen
on a motorcycle.
Police confirmed that the singer's ex-husband is a suspect in the case, and
that the Taliban are not believed to have been involved.
Ghazala Javed, with her sister and father were walking out of beauty parlour
in Dabgari Garden when unknown gunmen opened fire on them.
She was hit with six bullets and pronounced dead along with her father at a
hospital in Peshawar.
Her sister Farhat Javed accused her husband for the killing.
On the 19 June 2012, she and her father were buried in their native Swat.
Thousands of people participated in her funeral procession.
